Jakob Dont (1815 -1888) was an Austrian violinist and professor. He was a student of Josef Boehm and of Georg Hellmesberger. In early 1830s, Dont appeared frequently as a soloist Vienna Hofkapelle. Due to the difficulty in adaption to the stage, he decided against a career as a soloist and started the teaching and composition. In 1853 he became a professor at the Paedagogisches Institut in Vienna, where Leopold Auer was his student in 1857-1858. With significant contributions to the modern playing techniques of violin, he had about 50 works, of which Op. 35 and Op. 37 are considered the are considered the most important technical studies for the violin in the world. OpiZ35 is an advanced material textbook and has the following features: 1. Technique and musical works are of equal value in practice; 2. Rich contents and specific technical purpose; 3. Harder trainings for right hand over left in detache, legato, martele, colle, compound bowing, arpeggios bowing chords bowing, frog & head trainings, etc.; 4.
