This publication looks into the complexity of the fisheries and aquaculture sector and its interactions with other human sectors and the wider environment in the face of climate change. The millions of people who struggle to maintain reasonable livelihoods through fishing or fish-farming are among the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, not to mention the many threats and obstacles that they already face in their day-to-day lives. Effective adaptation will be required across all scales and sectors of fisheries and aquaculture to strengthen the resilience of aquatic ecosystems if the sector is to continue to support progress towards global poverty reduction and food security goals
