3deluxe: noor islands realms of imagination

Bok av 3deluxe architecture
Frame Publishers presents a book on 3deluxe's Noor Island project in the UAE that blurs the lines between reality and imagination. In Sharjah's centrally situated Khalid lagoon, an ambitious building project was recently completed. German design collective 3deluxe transformed the uncultivated Noor Island into a 2.4 hectare landscaped park, boasting a scenery enhanced by multimedia and three buildings. The flowing contours of the pedestrian bridge, the shimmering golden free-form of the butterfly house and the blossom-shaped literature pavilion form a truly iconic ensemble set in a lush garden. When designing Noor Island, 3deluxe proceeded very intuitively and gave precedence to associative and emotional aspects of design. The firm's main objective was to contribute to the urban quality of living.'For this publication, we have designed between and across divides, resulting in a kind of vibrant hybrid of architecture book and skater magazine. It demonstrates our design, planning and production processes, our tools for arriving at design and form and our love of rich detail and experimenting with materials.'Dieter Brell, co-owner and creative director at 3deluxe
