From Beijing to Washington - Historical Memory of China and U.S.A. by Wang Ji

Wang Shu, father of the author Wang Ji, used to be on important posts of Northeastern Army and Government of the Republic China. He had many contacts with Zhang Zuolin, Chiang Kai-shek and other people. Wang Ji has been in the Division of Chinese Literature in the Library of Congress for more than 40 years. In the past half century, the author has visited the United States, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and has witnessed and participated in important historical events, such as the war of resistance against Japan and cross-strait talks in his life. The author has also visited and contacted with politicians such as Zhang Xueliang, Song Meiling, Deng Xiaoping, Lien Chan, James Chu-yul Soong and scholars such as Jonathan Spence, Joseph Needham, Iris Chang and other scholars. Little-known inside stories of historical events and side stories of historical figure are also introduced in this article.
